DIY Overalls: Tilly and the Buttons Mila Dungarees Review

The Mila Dungarees from Tilly and the Buttons is one of my favorite sewing projects to date. I love working with Tilly and the Button patterns.  I took my time making these overalls. I find sewing more enjoyable when I break projects up into small daily tasks. With that said, I can’t offer any valuable insight on how long it takes to complete the dungarees. I made shoes! Shoemaking has been on my mind all year.  I begrudgingly searched for a digital workshop after learning that the closest in-person option was in New York. Finding a program that would provide enough information for me to confidently make different types of wearable, cute and comfortable shoes was my main goal.  I decided to try the I Can Make Shoes Online Footwear Masterclass because: they offer lifetime access to the class content they send a component kit and tool kit that has almost everything that you need to make at least one pair of shoes  and they walk through making eight different shoe types (and numerous variations).   The…

To get back into sewing, I decided to try a beginner-friendly pattern last month. Cue McCall’s M7789. I needed something that I would want to wear but also be simple enough to make. My goal was just to complete the project by making a wearable toile, which is essentially a full version of the garment made with inexpensive fabric that I wouldn’t mind rocking around the house.  I bought the pattern and fabric last year, intending to make the jumpsuit for my birthday.…

How to Make Giant Tissue Paper Flowers

Working on the random ideas that pop into my head is one of the ways that I’m staying sane during these stressful times. So when the idea to do an Alice in Wonderland theme photoshoot in place of my canceled bday trip to Punta Cana crossed my mind, I headed to Pinterest in search of a tissue paper flower tutorial that I had saved. It was a rainy week so instead of an outdoor shoot, I stayed inside and decided to do a dark forest take on the theme.  This tissue paper flower tutorial is inspired by the Giant Paper Flowers from Ruche on Design Sponge. That site is shuttering soon,…
